Film | In the Cinema - February #2


Here’s part two of the goodies in the cinema this month.

February 14

Run for Your Wife- John Smith has been happily involved in a bigamous marriage for five years. He lives with Stephanie in Finsbury and Michelle in Stockwell. When the police discover something suspicious in their paperwork, John's happy bubble is about to be burst.

A Good Day To Die Hard- John McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces.

This is 40- A look at the lives of Pete and Debbie a few years after the events of Knocked Up.


February 15

Side by Side – The documentary investigates the history, process and workflow of both digital and photochemical film creation.

For Ellen – A struggling musician takes an overnight long-distance drive in order to fight his estranged wife for custody of their young daughter.

Reign of Assassins – Drizzle/Zeng Jing tries to start a new life after she had betrayed her gang and hid the remains of monk.


February 18

Everyday – The relationship between a man imprisoned for drug smuggling and his wife and is being shot over the course of five years, a few weeks at a time.


February 22

Cloud Atlas – An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.

Mama – Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they?

Lore – As the Allies sweep across Germany, Lore leads her siblings on a journey that exposes them to the truth of their parents' beliefs. An encounter with a mysterious refugee forces Lore to rely on a person she has always been taught to hate.

Song For Marion – Grumpy pensioner Arthur honors his recently deceased wife's passion for performing by joining the unconventional local choir to which she used to belong, a process that helps him build bridges with his estranged son, James.

Fire In The Blood – An intricate tale of "medicine, monopoly and malice", FIRE IN THE BLOOD tells the story of how Western pharmaceutical companies and governments blocked access to low-cost AIDS drugs for the countries of the global south in the years after 1996.


February 27

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters – In this spin on the fairy tale, Hansel & Gretel are now bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.
