Hey guys just wanted to apologise for being away so long but I'm currently struggling with a massive production product while trying to do essays. I'll hopefully be back tomorrow evening with In the cinema and hopefully a third installment of Life As a Film Student.

In the mean time leave me your blog links or links of blogs you love so I can take a look. Hope your week is going well :)

Wishlist- #1

1.  Motel Scoop Back Sequin Lace Skater Dress - Asos, 2. Boots - H&M, 3. Neon Yellow Fisherman Knit Jumper - Glamourous, 4. Black Dog Bite Print T-Shirt - River Island, 5. Klarissa Mesh Insert Bodycon Dress - Missguided, 6. Klackskor Bold- Modekungen

Thought I'd do a wishlist as I haven't done a fashion post in a while. I've been wanting to do a few more outfit posts but I can't find my tripod boohoo.

I'm in love with these shoes!! Most of the shoes I own are black, they're just so easy to pair with a pair or jeans or a dress no matter the colour. I shouldn't really be looking at dresses, I seem to buy loads and then never wear them they just hang sadly in my wardrobe for months. I love the Asos dress more then the Missguided one. I'm really loving lace at the moment and the mesh inserts on the other dress frighten me a bit. I would love to wear an all black outfit with this neon jumper. I've been wanting a neon jumper for a while but I never have any money. Last but not least that top! I need this top, the print is amazing. I doubt they do but I really hope those teeth glow in the dark!

What I'm Excited to See | The Mortal Instruments

I used to read a teen magazine called Sugar a few years ago called Sugar (which closed in 2011 and became sugarscape.com, which I think is now part of Cosmopolitan?).
Anyway, they had a small book section every month and this is where I first discovered The Mortal Instruments. It definitely sounded like my kind of book so I gave it a read and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Sometime last year that I went online to find out when the next book was being released. Not only did I find that out, but also that there was going to be two more books in the Mortal Instruments series, a sequel series set five years in the future featuring both new and old characters, a set of prequels (The Infernal Devices) the first of which I have already read and finally a film!!!

Mind officially blown!! A film! I couldn’t believe it. This is what I wanted, one of my favourite books to be made into a film. Now months later I’ve just watched the trailer and I'm even more excited then I was before.

The film is based on the first book in the Mortal Instruments series (City of Bones) which tells the story of fifteen-year-old Clary Fray, who discovers she is a Shadowhunter after witnessing a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons.
Not everyone's type of book but it definitely is a favourite of mine.

The film is scheduled for release on 23rd August 2013, so I’m going to re-read the first 3 books and try to read the fourth before it’s released.

Are you excited to see this?

Beauty and the Beast (2012 TV series)

Cast: Kristen Kreuk, Jay Ryan, Nina Lisandrello, Brian White, Jay Ryan, Max Brown

Summary: A beautiful detective falls in love with an ex-soldier who goes into hiding from the secret government organization that turned him into a mechanically charged beast.

I read somewhere that there was going to be a TV show adaptation of Beauty and the Beast so I decided to do some investigating and went-a-searching on the internet for the UK premier date, unfortunately it had yet to receive one.
Then a couple weeks later I saw an advert at the train station that said it was being shown on Watch at 9pm on Wednesdays.

My mum, dad and I sat down to watch the pilot episode last Saturday (26/01) and all I can say is that I have never been so disappointed with a program in my 19 years of living.

Okay well maybe that's not entirely true, remember Lost (2004-2010)?

Firstly the acting was horrendous particularly with Kristin Kreuk and her partner Tess Vargas (Nina Lisandrello).
Secondly the plot is just terrible. The pilot explains how the two (Beauty and the Beast) first encountered each other and then for some unexplainable reason skips ahead 10 years, but when we're reintroduced to the characters it feel like something is missing.

I don't want to give too much away about what happens but in my opinion the script is pretty poor. plot moves way to fast, ridiculously fast in fact.
The plot moves way too fast, ridiculously fast in fact, so fast that it feels as though you've missed a couple of episodes and everything about Catherine and Vincent to me feels unrealistic and ungenuine (is this a word?).

Has anyone seen it? If you have leave me a comment!

Prouction Excercise: When Harry Met Sally

A few days ago I did my first post on Life as a Film Student talking about my Directing Drama class.

For the module we have to shoot a short exercise to show our technical ability before we can move on to the final project, so on Tuesday we did a quick rehearsal with our three actors. We took them through an empty classroom and went through what we wanted them to do before, getting them to read through the script and then run through it as though we were filming.

Here things began to look as though they were going downhill.

The girl we picked to use as Sally couldn't do the orgasm, which is understandable as there were 6 people (five girls and 1 guy) watching her and she only knew one of them. At one point the guy playing the role of Harry swapped roles with her and did the orgasm himself, we even offered to do it with her so she wouldn't feel as nervous or embarrassed but that didn't work out either. So a couple of us left the room to give them some privacy and when we got back she was finally able to do it.

Jump to Wednesday 8.30am we were all set up and about to shoot I noticed that there was no sound coming through the boom. Major crisis as the technician wouldn’t be in until 9.30, but thankfully I found the module leader who gave me new cable but once again the sound wasn't coming through. So we went back to the module leader to get a new camera and BINGO we had lift off.

Cast and Crew in action

We did come across a few other problems with the library and the reluctance of the head Libraian, but in the end we managed to get it all filmed and we were out of the library by 10.30. We headed to the editing suite around 11/11.30 and had a rough cut edited by 2.30, Thursday we came back and started fixing the sound and Friday we added the finishing touches.

Life as a Film Student- #1

When I started writing this I was sitting in one of the cafés on campus planning productions and blog posts with my delicious Belgian chocolate chip cookie, (I miss this cookie).
Anyway, my sister keeps going on at me to post more about what I do at uni so here’s a little post about what I got up to on Monday.

For the past few weeks Monday’s have just been for meetings. I had a meeting with my Directing Drama tutor (Director Paul Tickell, Christie Malry's Own Double Entry, 2000) and the rest of my group. The majority of the meeting was spent discussing our final production piece, where we showed him a clip of the scene we are planning to do and a couple pages of the adapted script.
The last few minutes were spent discussing our technical exercise, which we have to do before our final piece for the module. The technical exercise is just to show how well we work with the equipment, so to help us get started we have to have refresher camera training and refresher edit training

My group picked the orgasm scene in When Harry Met Sally (Rob Reiner, 1989), we’ve managed to find our actors and get our location, we did a quick rehearsal with the actors today and we’ll be shooting tomorrow morning.
I’ll try and take some pictures of the shoot tomorrow to show you guys.
